In 2007 it was time to rise the curtain for the first Jamel rockt den F\u00f6rster-Festival at the Forsthof in Jamel. What began in 2004 as a small fine summer party for friends, relatives and colleagues developed \u2013 almost inevitably \u2013 into an ambitious cultural-political project.<\/p>\n

Horst and Birgit Lohmeyer \u2013 he\u2019s a musician, she\u2019s a writer \u2013 bought the idyllic Forsthof on the edge of the forest in 2004. A short time later, several families of the right-wing extremist scene settle the village. Since this time the village of Jamel only had negative headlines in the press. The predominantly right-wing extremist village population had helped Jamel to become sadly famous \u2013 or rather infamous \u2013 in the past.<\/p>\n

The Lohmeyers decided the situation couldn\u2019t stay like this, and in 2007 they opened the gates of their Forsthof for the first time for music-enthusiasts. The Open Air Festival under the motto \u201cRock Music for Democracy and Tolerance\u201d brought together bands from the regional and supra-regional music scene on the big forest stage in front of an audience from all over the country.<\/p>\n

The non-profit festival, organized on a voluntary basis, attracts the public to Jamel every year and documents what we stand for: “Mecklenburg remains colourful”.<\/p>\n

The President of the Mecklenburger Landtag, Sylvia Bretschneider, has taken over the patronage of the festival till her death in 2019.<\/p>\n

Federal Minister Manuela Schwesig has also taken over the patronage of the festival in 2016.<\/p>\n

Since 2021, Birgit Hesse, President of the State Parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, has also taken on the patronage of \u2018Jamel rockt den F\u00f6rster\u2019.<\/p>\n
